Trek the Inca Trail for Royal United Hospitals Bath
Take on one of the world’s most iconic trekking routes to help your local hospital do more for patients, staff and everyone in Bath, Wiltshire and beyond.

What to expect
You will spend five days hiking through impressive landscapes, through cloud forests and Inca tunnels, with mountain backdrops. You’ll pass rural mountain communities and see beautiful indigenous trees, orchids, and birds.
There are three nights of camping under the stars whilst on your trekking adventure. You’ll be accompanied and supported by a team of local guides. with meals cooked fresh at camp.
Following the trek, you will have a final day to explore the vibrant city of Cusco, before meeting your fellow trekkers for a celebratory meal.
This trek is graded as ‘tough’, covering approximately 52km in total over five days at altitudes of up to 4,200m.
What are you waiting for?
There are three options for paying and fundraising for your challenge:
Option A – Minimum sponsorship
Registration fee: £299
Trail permit: £200
Minimum sponsorship pledge: £5,000*
80% of your minimum sponsorship is due with us 12 weeks before departure and the remaining balance is due 4 weeks after arrival home.
*This ensures a minimum donation of £2,182 to RUHX
Option B – Self-funding
Registration fee: £299
Trail permit: £200
Self-fund: £2,818
Then simply raise as much as possible with no minimum target.
Option C – Partial self-funding / minimum sponsorship
Registration fee: £299
Trail permit: £200
Self-fund: £1,418
Minimum sponsorship pledge: £2,800*

*This ensures a minimum donation of £1,400 to RUHX

Where does my fundraising go?

Funds raised from the trek help us go further to give every patient in the RUH community the extra extraordinary care they deserve, while supporting our staff to do what they do best and furthering innovation within our hospitals.
£4,000 could fund art activity bags in the hospital for a whole year
£5,000 could fund a sleeper chair for family members to stay overnight with their loved ones
£6,500 could fund a system for dementia patients that offers music and activities to ease distress

What support is there on the trek?

You will be accompanied by an English speaking guide as well as an experienced Trek support team, including a cook, a UK doctor, porters to carry baggage, and a leader from Global Adventure Challenges, all on hand to make sure you have the adventure of a lifetime.
How fit do I have to be?
ExpandHide
You need to have a reasonable level of fitness in order to take part, but you do not need to be ‘super fit’ or a professional athlete! You should slowly build up your fitness levels on the lead up to your challenge by walking for good lengths of time, including hills and walking two days in a row.
