Since 2015 The Friends of Huck has been supporting the RUH Cancer Services, in loving memory of Mark Hucklebridge to ensure his vision of supporting sportspeople and those effected by cancer continues on after Mark sadly passed away after a long battle with stage 4 bowel cancer
Their most recent donation of £10,000 has enabled the cancer support team to introduce and implement a course of workshops providing complementary therapies. This is a new initiative that has been introduced for patients receiving cancer treatment here at the Dyson Cancer Centre. And it started this month with patient art therapy sessions with artist Natasha Clutterbuck whose work has decorated the Wellbeing Hub of the Dyson Cancer Centre since it opened in 2024.
The sessions included over 20 current cancer patients, who were a mix of in and outpatients. These therapy sessions can improve outcomes for patients living with and after cancer. They also include other benefits such as pain relief, reduce in anxiety and stress, mood improvement, encouraging relaxation, relieving muscle tension, improving fatigue and many more. Tracy Langton, Macmillan Cancer Support Wellbeing Hub Manager, said “We are really grateful for the donation received from Friends of Huck – this will enable us to offer much needed support to our patients using Art Therapy and complementary therapies in the Macmillan Wellbeing Hub.”
Thank you so much from all of us at RUHX to the Friends of Huck charity for this extra-extraordinary help to our patients with this initial, and future, cancer patient therapy workshops. The next patient workshop is soon – 15th July.

One of the current patients that attended the session shared afterwards about their positive experience “Session ended too soon. Lovely to relax and distract yourself from medical stuff”
