SouthGate Bath announces four new charity partners

Posted: 08th August 2023

SouthGate Bath has announced RUHX, The Nest Project, Lily Foundation and Off the Record as the latest charity partners to be supported by its Giving Box.

The centre’s Giving Box – located on SouthGate Place – was launched in December 2020 as a way to support local charities through donations made by the community throughout the year. Donations can be easily made by using contactless payment to donate £3 with 100% of funds raised being donated directly to the charity partners.

  • RUHX is the official NHS charity of the Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust and they provide patients with the specialist care they need. The donations from the Giving Box will go towards improving health, happiness and wellbeing for those who need care in Bath and beyond.
  • The Nest Project aims to serve families who are experiencing financial pressure, by providing free clothing, equipment, and toiletries to children under the age of 5. The charity also runs free toddler groups where families can access warm and safe spaces for their children to play.
  • Through its free services, Off the Record Bath and Northeast Somerset (OTR) works to improve the emotional health and wellbeing of young people, aged 10-25. The charity provides 1:1 listening support with trained volunteers, professional counselling, and group sessions for young people to come along and meet others.
  • The Lily Foundation is the UK’s leading mitochondrial disease charity, helping to raise awareness, fund research, and support affected families. Mito is a life-limiting ailment affecting all ages, and across the UK a new case arises every 20 minutes, with the onset typically occurring before the age of 16.

Richard Gyde, Deputy Head of RUHX, said: “We are so grateful to SouthGate Bath for choosing us as charity partner for the giving box. Not only will it make an impact to staff, patients and visitors at the the RUH, it will also help promote the charity to local people under our new name and identity following our rebrand last year.

Guy Henderson, centre director at SouthGate Bath, said: “Thanks to our generous local community, our Giving Boxes have been able to provide support to eight charities to date in their essential work, and we’re thrilled to continue this support in 2023 for the RUHX, The Nest Project, Off the Record and The Lily Foundation.

“We are always amazed by the generosity of our visitors, and we express our heartfelt gratitude for their help. The contributions they make will be crucial in enabling these charities to sustain their incredible efforts and assist those in our local communities who require it the most.”
