Work Begins on Children’s De-escalation Room

Posted: 05th August 2026

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters during the Christmas Campaign, work is now underway to create a dedicated Children’s De-escalation Room on the Children’s Ward at the Royal United Hospitals Bath.

Designed to provide a calm, sensory-friendly environment for children who are feeling anxious, overwhelmed or distressed, the room will feature soft furnishings, low-stimulation lighting and bespoke sensory elements.

Since work began in July 2026, specialist contractors have started preparing the space, with electrical, heating and plumbing works currently in progress. The project is expected to be completed by the end of September 2026.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who supported this appeal. Your kindness is helping us create a safe and reassuring space for children and their families when they need it most.
