To mark International Nurses Day this May, Art at the Heart hosted a relaxed and creative workshop for nursing staff at the Royal United Hospitals Bath.
Celebrated each year on 12 May, Nurses Day often overlaps with Creativity and Wellbeing Week, making it the perfect opportunity to press pause, unwind and try something a little different. With busy wards and packed schedules, finding time to switch off can be a challenge, so Art at the Heart brought the creativity directly to staff.
The workshop, led by Art at the Heart, invited nurses to take a break from their day-to-day roles and get hands-on with art. And they didn’t disappoint. From colourful designs to carefully crafted shapes, staff created a range of miniature art models — with rabbits proving a firm favourite!
The session was all about giving nurses a chance to relax, connect with colleagues and do something purely for themselves. Laughter and conversation filled the room as participants shared ideas, compared creations and enjoyed a well-earned moment of calm.
Staff feedback highlighted just how valuable the session was:
“Great idea for staff to try something new, network with each other and relieve stress. Well needed.”
“A peaceful way to decompress, loved it!”
A big thank you to everyone who took part — and to our amazing nurses, not just on Nurses Day, but every single day. If you wish to help us continue Art at the Heart to benefit staff and patients please visit the ArtattheHeart.
