On Wednesday 15th April, RUHX alongside the RUH Maternity Bereavement team, had the wonderful opportunity to meet Sabrina who has kindly donated a privacy pram to be used by our Maternity Bereavement team and Neonatal Unit.
Sabrina’s story started in 2015:
“I had identical twin boys Hunter and Lincoln, my Lincoln was struggling as he was so small and they had TTTS (Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome), so I had to make the horrendous decision to turn off life support as he was suffering and I didn’t want that. He passed away at one day old. My Hunter was fighting on for 9 days but he was struggling with sepsis, 2 brain bleeds, and still being so small, we had to make the decision again to turn off life support, and they both passed away in Southmead hospital.
A charity called 4Louis was renting a room out in the maternity ward at Southmead where I stayed with Lincoln. 4Louis are a UK Charity Supporting Families Through Miscarriage, Stillbirth and Child Loss. They donated a memory box, these helped us to create incredible memories you would never get back, then when Hunter passed, I had the same.
You’re in such a whirlwind so you need really great support around you, but I didn’t find there was a lot of support or items for people like my family, so I wanted to change that. I wasn’t sure on what to do or how to do it through my own charity so decided to help the 4Louis Charity with everything they were doing.”
After listening to bereaved families, 4Louis came to understand just how incredibly hard the journey to the mortuary and round the hospitals can be. It is a moment no family ever expects, and one that deserves care, dignity and respect.
“To help make this part of care a little gentler we wanted to donate a Privacy Pram.” The Privacy Pram provides a safe, dignified and discreet way for babies and children to be transferred, helping to protect families from further distress during an already heartbreaking time. Each Privacy Pram includes:
🤍 A double hood to offer increased privacy
🤍 A small “Respect My Privacy” sticker
🤍 A handmade carrycot that is specifically designed to meet infection control requirements. Every pram is carefully made by the 4Louis team, with compassion at the heart of each detail.

“I have had done 3 fundraisers so far that have been for different items every time, last year I decided to fundraise for 2 privacy prams, 1 for the RUH hospital in Bath, and 1 for Southmead Hospital where I had Hunter and Lincoln.
Now I can give others the memories like I had with my boys. This means everything to me as they will live on in the best way by helping families like their own. I can’t express how grateful I am to you all for allowing me to do this.”
Speaking to Lucy Jenkins, Maternity Bereavement Support Worker & Birth Reflections Administrator, she said:
“The 4Louis privacy pram is an incredibly valuable addition to the Maternity Bereavement service that we are able to offer here at the RUH.
For the families who wish to use this pram, it will make all the difference in giving parents the opportunity to make precious memories with their baby and will not limit families to spending time with their baby in just one room.
This pram means families can do something every parent should be able to do with their baby and gives them some normality during such a heartbreaking time. We are incredibly grateful to have received such a wonderful piece of equipment. We know it will make all the difference to families following a bereavement. Thank you so much for your kind donation, Sabrina and all the hard work that went into making this happen!”
Thank you so much to Sabrina for donating this incredible piece of equipment to the RUH in memory of Hunter and Lincoln. This will help our staff to continue to give the extra-extraordinary care to all parents during such a difficult time.
