RUH Community Music ‘Rock around the clock’ viral TikTok sensation

Posted: 11th November 2025

Music has the power to lift spirits, connect people, and transform the atmosphere — even in a hospital corridor. This beautiful moment between a patient and a staff member reminds us why Soundbite matters at the RUH Bath. Soundbite, music therapy at the RUH, is the hospital music programme produced by Art at the Heart of the RUH for patients, staff and visitors of the Royal United Hospital Bath.

Frankie Simpkins is the Soundbite Musician in Residence. With nearly 13 years of experience using music on the wards of the RUH Frankie currently works one and a half days a week at the RUH, with a half day dedicated to the Children’s ward and Neonatal Unit, and the rest of the time spread across select wards, mostly Older Persons wards.

This autumn Art at the Heart are seeking funding to continue Frankie’s work in the future. So it’s been great to see, online, how much positive reaction there’s been to a recent Cheselsden ward music video that she shared. It’s gone viral!

On TikTok within 48 hours of posting it’s had….
