RUHX are proud to announce that we are the chosen charity for the Chelwood Bridge Rotary Club for 2023. The Club based in Somerset, will be fundraising over the next six months towards RUHX’s Robotic Surgery campaign – to bring this state-of-the-art technology to the RUH, and they’re no strangers to fundraising, using their enthusiasm and energy to benefit countless communities around the Chew Valley and local area.
Rob Taylor, one of the masterminds behind the events being organised by the club, said: “Our President has chosen RUHX for personal reasons as he was treated for cancer at the RUH, and wishes to give something back. As a club, we are fundraising over the next few months for RUHX with a choir concert in Keynsham, and an open-air Caribbean themed evening in June. We hope our events will be a big success – we have two magnificent choirs performing at our first event, the award winning Cantorion Creigiau Singers from Cardiff and The Bristol Military Wives. We are sure it will be a fabulous concert.”
Karlie Evans, Events & Community Manager, said: “We are so excited to gain the support of the Chelwood Bridge Rotary Club. As a charity we are really grateful to clubs like these who choose to raise money for their local hospital because they make a huge difference. The Club have big plans and we can’t wait to get started with them.
“The most recent statistic states that one in two of us will be affected by cancer, so we can’t thank the President enough for choosing to raise money for us. The aim of our Robotic Surgery campaign is to raise £2.3 million to fund a DaVinci Robot and bring Robotic Surgery to the RUH, which will assist with up to 400 surgeries per year.”
Tickets for the choir concert on 22 April at St Johns Church in Keynsham can be purchased here.
