Last Friday RUHX helped welcome back The Lansdown Cricket Club (LCC) Big Bike Ride. 18 brave riders who cycled from Durham to Combe Park via every test cricket ground in England – that’s 850kms in just four days. Well over 100 miles each day! Thank you and well done to all the riders and their dedicated support team.
The team scaled the heights of the Peak District, rode between Lords and the Oval in London with BBC One’s Greg James and fixed numerous broken bikes on route. And visited Southampton, Durham, Leeds, Nottingham, Birmingham, Manchester and London – before arriving back to a rapturous reception from friends and family at their Combe Park ground next door to the RUH on Friday evening. Accompanied by the junior bike ride of younger club members.
It’s all part of the clubs huge ambition to raise £200,000 in 2025 to celebrate the clubs 200th anniversary by helping local charities including their neighbours RUHX. Watch out for more events coming up next door later this year.
To date the big bike ride has raised over £42,000, and counting. Extraordinary!
